Meadow Stage - 1:10PM
Luray creates strange and lovely bedfellows of sound – banjos, vibes, pedal steel, and ambient vocals make up this once bluegrass-picking songwriter’s newly roused approach to making music. The end result is somewhere between the likes of Iron & Wine and Emmylou Harris. Luray’s debut album The Wilder was called "beautifully lush” by Bob Boilen of NPR. Led by banjo player and singer/songwriter Shannon Carey, the album was produced with help from brother Sean Carey of S. Carey and Bon Iver. Since recording the album in Sean’s attic, the band has taken on new life and sound, including Richmond-based jazz musicians Brian Cruse, CJ Wolfe, and Scott Burton.
